The Internet of things comes about because many machines and devices need to communicate automatically with each other. The need for devices to communicate automatically, often without human involvement, drives the Internet of Things.

The creation of the Internet of Things can free us from device-to-device communication and enable devices to communicate automatically, thus making our lives more innovative and more efficient. No longer do our sanitation workers have to check the bins regularly to see if they are complete? We also don't have to worry about whether the seafood shipped long distances is spoiled because of temperature problems? Therefore, the emergence of the Internet of Things fundamentally improves the quality of life and improves people's quality of life.

Intelligent transportation is an excellent example of the Internet of Things. The intelligent transportation system is complex and comprehensive. Still, its principle is to collect and manage the dynamic information of vehicles, adjust the traffic distribution in all directions and optimize the traffic capacity of the intersection.

In Singapore, people can get traffic jam forecasts just like they can get weather forecasts. Using sensors buried in the road and probes at traffic lights, drivers can see where traffic jams are and predict where they will be 10 to 20 minutes in advance, allowing them to drive on more open roads.

In Sweden, Stockholm has set up an intelligent transport system that charges for different levels of congestion. Through this intelligent transportation system, Stockholm has achieved a 25% reduction in car use and 14% reduction in carbon emissions, achieving better results than expected in terms of environmental protection and pollution prevention.

I think the future of the Internet of Things system will be a convergence of all industries, whether it's agriculture, industry, or service, where there's going to be information that will be connected to the network somehow. Unlike the current concept of the Internet, the collection of such information will no longer rely on human perception but more on the perception ability of the device itself.

In the past, our use of knowledge was more direct and unprocessed. And in the future, cross-industry information invocation and analysis could become common, leading to an exciting butterfly effect of the Internet of Things: the fact that you buy a flavor of drink today could defeat a national presidential candidate.
