I think the design of human-machine systems in the future will begin to develop from the perspective of multi-sensory and virtual reality.

The concept of micro-interactions proposed in 2013 by Dan Saffer should be given enough attention. This concept means subtle, detailed, and human interaction. We are now entering an opportunity where the complexity of information surpasses the past, and the information that the human brain can process is dimensional. As human-machine system designers, we should not only consider the user experience. More should consider using the information designed for users to "reduce dimensionality." The concept of micro-interactions helps designers guide users through details.

As the primary output method of the human-machine system, vision should gradually begin to develop other sensory modes, even multi-sensory modes. Try to feel different interactive experiences through hearing, touch, etc. This does not mean we should ignore the vision but strive to maintain visual fatigue. Find a breakthrough in the platform to help users get out of the predicament of information overload. Color, font, and texture will become a powerful means for designers to end the flattening of visual effects.

The rise of IOT has brought human-machine system design to a more complex level. Although the current IOT has not been entirely popularized in a short period, it is in the era after this concept is first designed. As interactive designers, we should adapt quickly and react ahead of time to create human-machine systems. Realize that IOT will infinitely shorten the distance between people. The emotional design elements in the design will help build a more stable communication bridge.

The rise of the meta-universe concept and the conceptual construction of the virtual world has made more people aware of the importance of human-machine systems and human factors engineering. Using multi-sensory interaction, the human-machine system design will bring people a more convenient and comfortable living experience.
